Mover's Fever...

I absolutely think this is a real condition. Mike and I have been looking around for a new apartment recently and we are basically examining every building and apartment we walk by or are in. We say to ourselves what we want in an apartment or what we wouldn't like to see. We were recently in our friend's apartment and couldn't stop talking about the good and the bad of the place. I felt bad because the guy just moved in but we were picking his apartment apart, like we'd hang pictures here and where would this go.. etc... Anyway, I need your prayers that we will get an apartment soon. We really want a new place that we can call home before our wedding. We want some peace and we want it to be "our new place."

Bring Back the Brown Campaign

The Bring Back The Brown campaign is brought to you by a few San Diego fans. They are attempting to bring back the orange and brown uniforms and hats to the Padres players. The color scheme was popular in the late 80s, early 90s. Yep, you remember it. We (yes, I said we because I was a faithful follower then) rejoiced when it went away. However, now  I support it. Bring it back!  You all know that I'm a New York Mets fan but this campaign brings me back to the days where my love for baseball was born. Brown and orange reminds me of the Murph, Tony Gwynn's fro and all those tween years rooting for the friars. I support this because not only is brown fresh right now, but orange is official. It's nostalgic. I have a lot of family and friends who remain die-hard Padres fans. They deserve the brown to be back!!

LOVE

Today's theme is LOVE but often has been commercialized by all things Hallmark. I LOVE getting cards, hearing why I'm loved, but, if I didn't have that, I know I'd still be loved by myself and by God. The moment that I felt truly LOVED was when I loved myself no matter and knew I'd make it through the tough times. So I challenge you to LOVE yourself more this year. This is my last Valentine's Day as a single lady and it's a great one - as are most of my Valentine's Days.

If you're reading this, know that someone out there LOVES you so make sure you let those who you LOVE know how much you appreciate them not today, but every day!

LOVE,
Marisa

For the ladies

Mike said he got me the best valentine's day gift ever and me like a loca said "You got me Philip Rivers?" Lol! Who asks for that for Valentine's Day??  Yes, only me. Most of you know that I love what #17 is about both professionally and spiritually so yes, I'm a big fan. Which brings me to discuss the guys that gals gush over in the sports world. Here are some of the other men in professional sports that women (and some men) love to adore:

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cole Hamels

Tom Brady

Landry Fields

Philip Rivers (of course)

Happy Valentine's Day Y'all!!

East Coast vs. West Coast Matchup

Today, we have a big matchup at the garden here in New York City. The Lakers play the Knicks. East Coast vs. West Coast. I'm not a huge basketball fan but I definitely know my beer. So this brings me to talk about my own East Coast vs. West Coast matchup.

East Coast: Blue Point Brewery

Located in Long Island, Blue Point has many special beers including Blueberry Ale and Toasted Lager. My favorite for now is Rastafar Rye. I mean the name along takes the cake and it's crisp flavor makes you want more than just one.

West Coast: Eagle Rock Brewery??

Um, yea.. WHAT?? I have never heard of this place. Have you? Well, apparently they have tap rooms where you can taste their beers. I don't know about this but this is not a good representation of a brewery in Los Angeles.

So you may not think this is a far matchup or even relevant to the Lakers vs. Knicks game tonight......... but LET'S GO KNICKS!!

Is his legacy still there?

Brett Favre's legacy is in question ever since he decided to un-retire a 2nd time. His performance was under constant scrutiny and criticism was more prevalent. We all know that he's a Super Bowl Champion and that can't be taken away from him. Yet, the sports news outlets remained obsessed with #4's "legacy" (and sometimes controversy). On January 2, 2011, Favre was unable to play against the Detroit Lions in the final game of the regular NFL season due to his inability to pass post-concussion tests. In a press conference immediately following the game, Favre announced his intention to retire from professional football. Could this be it? We've heard this from him a few times now and I know he's not getting any younger but it seems like a bad joke now. He might get that urge or a sudden boost to play again and un-retire AGAIN. Do these moves along with the alleged sexting including adulterous behavior hurt the legacy of Brett Favre? I think so. I like to call him Brent -it's less annoying than Brett. I am tired of seeing his name. He should have just stayed retired. His legacy would have been frozen and not tainted like it seems to be now. I will give him credit for his passing and consecutive starts records. But, when was the last time you about this stuff from Brent?

With that said, do you think that other players can overstay their welcome in the NFL?

Let the light shine.

Feeling good even though it's a Monday? Don't have anything to complain about in life? Well I know it's the day after the Super Bowl and we don't have football for the next 6 months or so. Despite that (y'all know I am a big football fan), the light inside me is still shining brightly. I haven't had a bad Monday in a while. I don't let it happen. I really have an amazing life - not to be so selfish - but, I have great friends and an awesome family. Gotta give my thanks to the big man upstairs for this life and I'll be sure to let people know - hence, this blog post. Yesterday's message at church was "let the light shine" - which is God's light. Let people know that God has blessed you, share it with others. I know I never used to give as much thanks to God as I do now. I wasn't sure what was going on with me but God will continue to bless me - I believe that. If you are having a bad day or you don't feel like things are going your way, I invite you to "come home" - home to God. It may change your life, it may make you have a great Monday. Only you can determine your attitude and when you have that light - it's really hard to have a bad day! Have a good week y'all.

Shopping for the future

How the heck am I supposed to know what all we'll need in the new apartment (*crossing fingers that we will get one before the wedding*). Seriously though, there are so many things I could get and put on the registry - yet, will we use it or will it sit in a drawer forever? I did put a mortar and pestle thingy on the registry and I was like Hell yea, I can't wait to make guacamole at home like they do at Rosa Mexicano. Is that a weird thing to say?? I guess I'm growing up and I can't wait to be his wife!
